Boo with Butter and Syrup

Aren't these great? They're the Williams-Sonoma Make-a-Face Pancake molds. You can turn the eyes and mouths around to make happy or scary faces. Of course my charming children wanted only scary ones. Originally they were $19.99, and on the web site they're still $14.99. But in the store, I found them for $9.99 - so go there to get them. (And just wait till after Halloween for the best price.) The pancakes turn out really cute, but I must admit the molds are a pain to clean. I made four pancakes , two from each mold and after that they really needed a cleaning before they could be used again. The batter residue sticks to them (and causes the subsequent pancakes to stick;) no matter how well you spray.. Fortunately, they make gigantic pancakes, so my boys were happy with just two and I just made regular pancakes with the rest of the batter. I think I will make these again this week, just for fun.

What looks like cracks in this pumpkin are just from where I missed pouring batter and had to fill in after the pancake had begun to set. The actual crack is from trying to get it out of the mold. The first set came out better. But still, the kids didn't notice the imperfections (just their perfectionist mom. lol.) They had fun eating the "eyes" and the "noses."
